‘American Idol’
With the other singing competitions breathing down its neck (“The Voice” returns next month), Fox’s original is sticking to its tried and true formula. Judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler travel to Savannah, Ga.; Aspen, Colo.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Portland, Ore.; and St. Louis, Mo., in the first few weeks for the initial auditions. Will there be delusional contestants, amazing singers and an ever-similing Ryan Seacrest? Of course there will be. 8 p.m. Wednesday on Fox (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).
